Black Diamond Contour Elliptic Flicklock Trekking Poles

Published Jun 19, 2010 GMT

These are trekking poles I originally bought for some day hikes in Alaska (August 2009) the Grand Canyon (December 2009).

I ended up just carrying them up and down the Canyon (they're light!), and then breaking the tip on one pole on the Big Pine Lakes loop in June 2010.

I took the poles back to REI to get a new tip, but they had none in stock or online, so I got a nice new pair of Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork trekking poles.  Hurray, (almost) free upgrades!

I really liked these poles until they broke. The elliptical shape kept the Flicklocks in alignment and gave the poles a more sturdy feel than regular round poles.
