San Francisco, CA, USA (10/29/2009) - MenuCalc - Web-based nutrition analysis solutionspioneer FoodCalc® today announced a partnership with MassPublisher™, a web publishing platform for restaurants. FoodCalc is the creator of MenuCalc®, which provides nutrition analysis services for restaurant operators and culinary professionals.

As a result of the FoodCalc-MassPublisher partnership, all MenuCalc customers who sign up with MassPublisher will be able to import their MenuCalc nutritional information and automatically publish the resulting nutrition facts online, free of charge.

Menu labeling is now the wave of the future, fueled by the strong consumer preference for healthy dining. MenuCalc has successfully made it simple, practicable and economical for restaurants by utilizing sophisticated web-based technology and a growing database of 25,000-plus ingredients, thereby slashing costs and effectively eliminating the need for expensive laboratories and complicated nutrition software.

MassPublisher provides a fast and inexpensive back-end publishing solution for restaurants via an easy-to-use system that creates extra pages for their existing websites. Restaurants can therefore update their sites in minutes with customized wine lists, restaurant menus (including Nutrition Facts), job and event listings, maps and directions, etc., without having to utilize the costly services of a web designer or IT professional. Plus, in addition to helping restaurants power their websites and reach more customers, MassPublisher also offers bonus services such as marketing to job and event portals, and a free listing in the company's online directory.

"Our goal is to free restaurateurs from dependence on IT – they shouldn't need a degree in computer science or a huge outsourcing budget in order to produce a great website," said Shawn Butler, founder, MassPublisher. "We're delighted to work with FoodCalc to make it easier and more cost-efficient than ever before for restaurants to display their nutrition and allergy information online for customers."

"Today's health-conscious diners are demanding nutritional information in order to make high-quality, wholesome menu selections, and offering this data helps savvy restaurants distinguish themselves from their competitors and build customer loyalty," said Lucy Needham, president and CEO, FoodCalc. "We're thrilled that our partnership with MassPublisher delivers substantial value-added services to our clients."

The MenuCalc product offers two unique solutions for restaurants. The Web do-it-yourself plan starts as low as $35 per recipe, and allows users to license MenuCalc's online application for unlimited use and independently perform their nutrition analysis, assisted by training and customer support provided by MenuCalc's expert staff. With the Registered Dietitian Plan, MenuCalc's registered dietitians perform the analysis, contact ingredient suppliers and assure compliance of all locations under menu labeling bills. Both plans generate instant results that can be customized and exported into programs like Microsoft Word and Excel. Completed nutrition data can easily be printed, emailed and shared via brochures, menus and Web sites.

In addition, MenuCalc offers Consultancy Services for all restaurants that wish to benefit from their expertise in labeling and menu display compliance (staff is certified to support FDA labeling inquires), nutrition analysis and ingredient projects beyond the paid plan.

Multi-unit restaurants that have signed up for MenuCalc's nutrition analysis include Eugene, OR-based Abby's Legendary Pizza; Bend-OR-based Croutons Inc.; Louisville, KY-based Texas Roadhouse; Indianapolis, IN-based Steak 'n Shake; St Louis Park, MN- based Granite City Food & Brewery; and San Francisco, CA-based Specialty's Café and Bakery.
