In 1965, our founder Rod Strong was the first to plant chardonnay in what would later be recognized as the Chalk Hill American Viticultural Area (AVA), established officially in 1983. Meridian 2005 LR Cabernet Sauvignon

A complex mix of aromas and flavors of currants, cocoa powder, mint, subtle earthiness and vanilla. The pallet is full bodied with firm tannins and the finish is very long.

Meridian 2006 LR Merlot

Black cherry, plum, cranberry fruit and spicy anise harmonize with toasted oak and firm chewy tannins. This is a Merlot with enough stuffing to last a few years.

Meridian 2005 LR Syrah

This is a powerhouse of a wine. The aromas are loaded with black licorice, blackberry jam and sweet oaky notes. The sweet fruit continues in the taste and the very long and full finish.

Meridian 2006 LR Petite Sirah

A wine for those who like big reds. This is a blend of two vineyards. One, imparting deep blackberry jam and the other imparting a subtle black pepper spice. It's very full with almost chewy tannins that will allow this wine to age for several years.

Meridian 2005 LR Club Cuv�e

A complex mix of cherry fruit and red licorice, with oak adding a slight toasted almond character. Drank young, this wine eill exhibit it's fruit, and left to age it will develop more caramel and jammy qualities.

Meridian 2006 LR Zinfandel, Camatta Hills

A veritable spice box, loaded with clove, cinnamon, menthol and leather blending with a dried sour cherry fruit character. Somewhat hard tannins will require some aging to soften but the fruit will be more pronounced when tasted while young.

Meridian 2006 LR Zinfandel, Dusi Vineyard

Intense aromas of fresh wild blackberries with subtle hints of black pepper and menthol. Use of new French oak add vanilla flavors while the firm tannins keep this wine lively and fresh.

Meridian 2006 LR Sangiovese

Aromas of cranberry and cherry pie balanced with subtle flavors of vanilla and caramel. Although the tannins have some firmness, this wine will be best when young so as to preserve it's bright cherry fruit.
